Jaw & TMJ Massage in New York City
Finally, a different approach to jaw pain.
Most TMJ treatments focus primarily on the jaw. My approach begins by looking at the bigger picture.
I focus not only on the muscles of the jaw, but also on the head, neck, shoulders, and the surrounding structures that commonly contribute to chronic tension and clenching. Using precise external and intraoral techniques, I work with the jaw joints, chewing muscles, and the often-overlooked muscles surrounding the ears to create a level of release that many clients have never experienced before.
Many people come to MEND after trying other therapies with only temporary relief. One of the comments I hear most often is,
"I haven't felt this much relief in years."
or
"I've tried everything, and nothing has worked like this."
My goal isn't simply to help your jaw feel better during your appointment. It's to help restore comfortable movement, reduce chronic muscle guarding, and give your body the opportunity to stop holding so much tension.
Why This Treatment Feels Different
Jaw tension rarely exists in isolation.
The muscles responsible for chewing work in close relationship with the muscles of the face, scalp, neck, and shoulders. Stress, posture, prolonged desk work, previous injuries, and years of unconscious clenching can create patterns of tension that continue long after the original cause is gone.
Rather than focusing on one area alone, I evaluate how these patterns work together and tailor each session accordingly. This whole-person approach is why many clients describe a level of relief they hadn't experienced despite years of massage, dental appliances, or other treatments.
Who Is This Treatment For?

Clicking, popping, or locking of the jaw
Neck and shoulder tension
Bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching)
Tinnitus or ear pressure
Post-dental, surgical, or orthodontic recovery
Chronic facial tension or stress holding
What to Expect
Every appointment begins with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, and goals.
Treatment may include:
• External massage of the jaw, face, scalp, neck, and shoulders
• Precise buccal massage performed with gloves
• Focused work around the jaw joints and muscles surrounding the ears
• Techniques that improve mobility and reduce muscle guarding
• Personalized recommendations to help maintain your progress between appointments
Every treatment is adapted to your comfort level. Intraoral (aka buccal) work is always explained beforehand and performed only with your consent.
Why Clients Choose MEND
People don't come to MEND because they're looking for a routine massage.
They come because they want someone who understands the complexity of chronic jaw tension.
My work combines advanced therapeutic massage with years of experience treating persistent muscular patterns throughout the head, neck, shoulders, and jaw. Rather than following the same sequence every appointment, I continually assess how your body responds and adjust the treatment accordingly.
That thoughtful, individualized approach is why so many clients tell me they've finally found the relief they've been searching for.
FAQs
-
Most clients describe it as intense but relieving. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level, and communication throughout the session is encouraged.
-
No. While intraoral work can be extremely beneficial for many people, every treatment is personalized. If you prefer external techniques only, your session will be adapted accordingly.
-
Every person responds differently depending on how long symptoms have been present, daily habits, and contributing factors. Some clients notice meaningful relief after one appointment, while others benefit from a series of treatments.
I can help recommend an appropriate treatment plan after your initial evaluation.
-
Many people who clench or grind their teeth develop significant muscle tension throughout the jaw, face, neck, and shoulders. Massage may help reduce muscular tightness, improve comfort, and support jaw mobility. If you're under the care of a dentist or other healthcare provider, massage can often complement that plan.
